Nursery Manager
About Sunnah Steps Nursery
Sunnah Steps Nursery is a faith-based early years setting dedicated to providing a nurturing, safe and stimulating environment for children aged 2 to 4 years. We integrate the EYFS curriculum with Islamic values, fostering confidence, character and a love for learning. As a dynamic start-up, we are currently in the pre-opening phase — this is a rare opportunity to join a setting at its inception and play a foundational role in building a community-focused nursery from the ground up.
Role Overview
We are seeking a visionary and dedicated Nursery Manager to lead Sunnah Steps. This isn't just a management role; it's an opportunity to be a founding architect of our setting. As we are a start-up, you will be extensively involved in the Ofsted registration process. While you will receive moderate training and consistent guidance from the directors, we need a leader who is ready to roll up their sleeves and navigate the regulatory journey with us. You will be responsible for the total oversight of the nursery, from shaping the pedagogical approach to building a high-performing team that reflects our core Islamic values.
Key Responsibilities
- Registration & Compliance: Lead the Ofsted registration process, ensuring all policies, premises requirements and legal frameworks are met prior to opening.
- Strategic Leadership: Establish the nursery's daily operations, ensuring full compliance with EYFS, Ofsted and safeguarding statutory requirements.
- Team Building: Recruit, mentor and lead a new teaching team, fostering a culture of excellence, professional growth and mutual respect.
- Curriculum & Values: Oversee the integration of the EYFS curriculum with Islamic values, ensuring a rich, inclusive and engaging learning environment.
- Parental Partnership: Act as the face of the nursery for new families, managing the enrolment process and building lasting relationships within the Doncaster community.
- Operational Management: Manage budgets, health and safety, and rigorous record-keeping to ensure the nursery is "inspection-ready" at all times.
Requirements
- Level 3 or above qualification in Early Years Education (Level 5 or Degree in Early Years/Management highly preferred).
- Proven leadership experience — substantial experience in a management or senior deputy role within an early years setting.
- Deep knowledge of EYFS and Ofsted regulations, with the grit to navigate the initial registration phase.
- A genuine passion for early childhood development and a profound understanding of how to weave Islamic values into a modern educational setting.
- An entrepreneurial spirit — adaptable, proactive and resilient in a start-up environment.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills to lead a team and engage with the local community.
Benefits
- Competitive salary reflective of your experience and the significance of this leadership role.
- Specialised training and guidance through the registration process and beyond.
- The unique opportunity to shape a brand-new nursery's culture and legacy.
- Direct access to a committed leadership team who will support your vision.
